Description
I'm looking to join—or to start—a band that plays guitar-based alternative rock from the late 70s through the 80s. I'm a 52-year-old bassist with tons of experience and good gear. I also have experience singing lead and fronting an original band, so I can handle some vocal duties but hope to share them with other band members.
I'm new to San Diego. I've got a few things going musically, but I would really like to be part of a WORKING band that plays post-punk, power pop, New Wave, No Wave, college alternative, etc. Just putting this out there. Interested singers, drummers, guitarists, even keyboardists, please let me hear from you!
I'm thinking of playing songs by such artists as:
R.E.M.
The Smiths
The Clash
Elvis Costello
Talking Heads
The Cure
Television
Gang Of Four
The Church
Echo and the Bunnymen
The Jam
XTC
Psychedelic Furs
The Replacements
to name only a few. And maybe include some more mainstream artists who are "alternative adjacent"—The Police, Blondie, Duran Duran, Bowie, Pretenders, etc.
