Drummer Wanted for Hard Rock/Heavy Metal
Meets
Portland OR
Description
After playing gigs for the past few months with a temporary drummer, and agreeing to record new material for a local label's compilation, we've decided that we want to wean off of hired guns. We want someone who desires to be an active, contributive member of their band rather than us searching for another fill-in/session situation. This person would ideally be someone who meshes with our intentions - someone who is passionate, creative, and ambitious, like we are. We are two guitarists and a bassist, all three of which perform some lead vocals (swapping on a song-to-song basis), 21 - 23 y/o. We are all truly friends; personal chemistry is just as important to us as musical chemistry. We have all been involved in music, both producing and performing, for almost a decade. Our music is thematic, usually high-concept, and often tongue-in-cheek. We all hold the philosophy of treating most every song as if it were an anthem of its own, both when writing/composing and performing. Common topics for the material in this band are sexuality, love, and empowerment; we also sometimes explore social issues and/or narratives. We have no problem working with someone who isn't the most technically proficient. Skill can and will be built with time and effort. Additionally, while we have a solid chunk of material, we want you to add your own flair to it. We would also be thrilled if you're game for writing lyrics, melodies, etc., but if you don't want to, that's okay. Same goes for singing leads. While we don't take ourselves too seriously as individuals, we do take our art seriously - even the campy shit - because this is a career for each of us. If this sounds like a good prospect for you, send an email or a text at any time to let us know a little about yourself and to ask any questions you'd like to. We can then send you links to some of our demos over the years. ----- Influences include (in no particular order): KISS, ZZ Top, Billy Idol, Judas Priest, Type O Negative, Lady Gaga, Venom, Motörhead, Dead or Alive, Bobby Orlando/The Flirts ... and various other 80s heavy metal, classic extreme metal, 80s pop, and HiNRG artists ----- Some final notes: - We would strongly prefer someone between the ages of 21 through 35. - If you don't have a drum set, it's not too much trouble - we have the full set of equipment necessary to play live, including an electronic kit. - Transportation can also likely be arranged if necessary. - We would like to rehearse multiple times a week, but we have jobs and college - we can surely find a schedule that fits into your life too. Our minimum is once a week. Also, we all intermittently practise our parts to recordings when we're not together. - Bonus points if you're queer, but it's not a deal-breaker. Cheers! -----
