Seneca Creek Community Church Community Food Mobilizer The Community Liaison Food Mobilizer will support the Gaithersburg CARES Hub Food Programs through deliveries, managing stock, building relationships in the community, investing in community leadership, stay abreast on needs/strengths of the community, and assisting with food distribution events. This position functions as a bridge between Gaithersburg CARES Hub and the Gaithersburg community. Main responsibilities: Drive to collect inventory from local vendors and food rescue organizations. Receive food deliveries at the Hub and check orders for accuracy against the purchase order/receipt. Break down food pallets and stock inventory with the help of volunteers. Keep the loading dock and surrounding area clean and clear of all boxes, debris, and pallets. Load van with groceries and supplies for in-neighborhood distributions. Assist with receiving, inventory and storing diaper delivery as needed. Manage and execute in-neighborhood distributions with the help of volunteers. Provide direction and guide volunteers as necessary to accomplish tasks. Be available (Monday-Friday) to receive and execute emergency food deliveries within 24 hours of the request received. Emergency requests received on Friday MUST be delivered the same day. Execute daily deliveries of food to clients in an efficient and timely manner. Assist with choice pantry as needed. Assist the Food Programs Manager with phone calls as needed. Be available to work evening/weekend hours at least once per month to assist with executing food distributions Cultivate relationships with vulnerable and underserved communities in Gaithersburg, including with community leaders and apartment complex managers. Be a bridge between the community and the Hub, keeping abreast on the needs, values, concerns, and strengths of the community we serve Demonstrate culture competence, respect, empathy, and active listening Help promote equity at food distributions, managing conflict if needed Be flexible and pivot as systems innovate Promote community ownership and community leadership in all aspects of food distributions Develop trusting relationships with clients, share information about other resources and when appropriate refer clients to the Hub Case Manager for additional assistance. Assist with Baby Essential’s Program as needed Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Spanish/English fluency is required. A Maryland Driver’s license with a clean driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles is required. Team attitude and willingness to collaborate with staff and community partners Clean appearance and professional demeanor Strong work ethic, able to work independently and meet deadlines Ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting, carrying bags several flights of stairs, and standing for long periods of time Demonstrate an understanding of the strengths/challenges of the Gaithersburg community Ability to work with Google Calendars, Excel, and email Ability to work on a team and perceive the needs of other team members. Hours: Monday-Friday 9 AM-5 PM and occasional evening/weekend hours totally 40-45 hours per week. To apply please submit cover letter and resume by email.
