Join CAIR Connecticut supporters to celebrate the organization's accomplishments as they renew their financial support of the state chapter of America's largest Muslim civil rights organization. CAIR monitors hate crimes and discrimination against Muslim Americans. The organization also counsels and advocates for people who have experienced religious discrimination. Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Br. Nihad Awad. Nihad Awad, is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the country's largest Islamic advocacy organization. He has been one of America's foremost Muslim voices after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In 2017, Nihad was the recipient of the Phillips Brooks House Association's Robert Coles "Call of Service" Lecture and Award, which is meant to "bring a significant leader in public service to Harvard each fall." Nihad is also named in "The Muslim 500", a list of the most influential Muslims in the world compiled by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.
