Description

Stigma reduction has always been a key part of suicide prevention, as negative views about individuals who have suicidal thoughts can be a big barrier to speaking up and help seeking. Yet suicide prevention centers, including Crisis Support Services of Alameda County, have historically been located in unidentified buildings and out-of-the-public sites. This September, in celebration of Suicide Prevention Awareness month, and after 56 years of keeping our location confidential, CSS is kicking off a stigma reduction campaign titled “We Are Here” to add street signage to our building in Oakland. We want to show how proud we are of the work that we do and model that suicide prevention is an important part of our community. We look forward to inviting you to our open house on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at our office at 6117 Martin Luther King Jr. Way., Oakland to unveil the new sign. The open house is from 5pm – 6:30pm.
