Members of the Government Canyon Activities Committee welcome women interested in our feathered friends for a women-only birding outing. Learn about the fun and excitement of birding, including tips on using binoculars, cameras, field guides and sound recordings. Bring your own equipment or let us know if we can loan you a pair of binoculars when you make your reservation.
Who is Invited: Open to women and girls ages 12 and over; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required! Sorry, no group registrations ; no pets please.
When & Where to Meet: Arrive no later than 7:45AM. Meet at the Visitors Center by the rainwater harvesting tower. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 7:45AM. The hike starts promptly at 8:00AM. Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and wait time at the Fee Booth.
What to Wear & Bring: Dress for the weather and be prepared for sunny conditions. Bring at least one liter of water and a snack if you like.
Requirements: No pets please. Group is limited to women only. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Registration, Fees & Cancellation: Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 8 women/girls that register. Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event. All Natural Area entry fees apply.
