“Harriet  (TCGM) observes the devastation and the trauma being experienced by girls and women of the African Diaspora and she offers a solution.  Send me six black girls and I will care for them. The care I offer to them will provide protection, praise and grace for all black girls and women throughout the land. The girls are delivered to Harriet in portraits so as not to attract unwanted attention.  Visitors to this show meet Harriets Girls in Salon One of our One Room Schoolhouse TCGM responds to the impact of the pandemic on our most vulnerable citizens, we use public art to lift up these challenges and offer the museum as a safe house, a place of rest and refuge.  Harriet Tubman inhabits The Colored Girls Museum, to carry on the abolition work she began two centuries ago in a time like this.
