Here in the 21st century, we find ourselves faced with an urgent need. With over 3 billion people amongst 6,000 unreached people groups in the 10/40 window alone, we are faced with this issue: the laborers are too few!
This is the same issue that faced Jesus in Matthew 9:3-8. When moved by the multitudes of lost before Him, He turned to His cloest friends and told them: "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send [ekballo] out laborers into His harvest!"
This word for "send" in the Greek in this passage isn't the normal word apostello. It is the word Ekballo, which means to "hurl" or "thrust forth." When the Lord ekballo's laborers into HIS harvest, the laborers must go!
Romans 10:14-15 says, "How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?" And we can say from what we see in Matthew 9:3-8 — how will they be sent unless someone prays, "Lord— ekballo!"
Join us this September as we fast and pray for laborers to be sent to the heardest and darkest places on earth [sign up for the fast here]. Lasting from Sept. 3 through Sept. 8th, these 6 days of prayer and fasting will culminate on the last day with a Global Day of Prayer for Missions. Come gather together with us on Sept. 8th in person for two hours of worship and prayer at Boulder Street Church in downtown Colorado Springs. We are believing for the greatest missions movement the world has ever seen, unto the fulfillment of the great commission and the soon return of Christ!
