28 August, 2022
Description
Tender, juicy succulent plants are everywhere! From Trader Joes to specialized nurseries to Chinese sellers on Ebay, cacti and succulents have become a big business. Unfortunately, information about the care and cultivation of these unusual plants has not spread nearly as quickly. How much sun? What's the watering frequency? What type of soil do they need? These are just a few of the questions Irwin will answer during his presentation. Additionally, he will bring plants from his extensive collection, so that you can see a broader range of these fascinating, collectible plants. Please join the Greater Dallas Organic Gardening club at North Haven Gardens Sunday, August 28, 2022 when our speaker will be Irwin Lightstone, President of the North Texas Cactus and Succulent Society who promises to give us an exciting discussion about those wonderful and quirky plants.2:30pm refreshments, 3pm meeting start. Join us ! Pursuing his passion over his profession, Irwin Lightstone closed his law practice of 29 years to become a full-time photographer. Specializing in highly detailed, artistic images of cacti and succulents, Irwin’s images are widely published and collected. Publications that featured his work include the Cactus and Succulent Journal, Hasseltonia, Sansevieria, and Cactus World. In addition to private workshops and numerous programs for plant societies and photography clubs throughout the country, he’s led workshops and programs sponsored by the Dallas Museum of Art, the International Photography Hall of Fame, The Huntington, the North America Association of Nature Photography, and the CSSA. Irwin is the longtime President of the North Texas Cactus and Succulent Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America.
