According to a relatively recent body of research, approximately 1 out of 50 people are unable to bring crisp and clear images to mind on demand. This is called aphantasia. I am one of the 1s out of 50.
For those who meditate as part of their spiritual practice and/or the workings of their craft, this inability lead to frustration and doubts and may ultimately weaken the effectiveness of their practice.
By relying on our other senses, the senses in which our perception may be heightened, we can use imagination in conjunction with our other senses to have a powerful, connected, effective meditative experience.
During this workshop, I’ll talk about how to “drop into” our other senses, tools that enhance perception, techniques that can help improve visualization, and how to remain open and patient while adjusting to a less frustrating approach to meditation.
