Description

The Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport and Sport for Good Chicago are working together to build a collective care community for all sports-based youth development practitioners. As part of that effort, CHJS is facilitating a healing-centered space for people—a space to discuss, listen, learn; a place to provide and receive support. Our goal is to provide an environment in which coaches and staff can build supportive relationships while improving their ability to connect and collaborate. We aim to strengthen the resilience of employees and volunteers who serve the city’s youth through sport. Our conversations will focus on topics related to secondary trauma, burnout, and work-related stress. We want to invite everyone working in the field to join these conversations beginning with our first session, which will be hosted in-person at 1757 N. Kimball Ave Chicago Il 60047. The sessions will be significantly influenced by the CoHealing model developed by Dr. Jennifer A. King and Dr. Megan R. Holmes at The Center on Trauma and Adversity at Case Western Reserve University. The first goal of this session is community building. We will also focus on regulation, as we believe it will help lead to relationships being easier to build. We hope to foster open dialogue by creating an environment where everyone who attends feels both welcome and wanted. Dinner will be served and this event is free to attend. Due to space limitations, will be limiting enrollment to the first 15 guests who register. Since space is limited, please only register if you will be able to attend the event. Anyone with questions, comments, or concerns is invited to email Cooper Thompson at [email protected]
