Lone Star College is dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote diversity, equity and inclusion as it strives to become a premier community college in awarding certificates, associate and bachelors degrees. This workshop will promote opportunities for the college and community partners to collaborate to foster working relationships and initiatives that support populations of the community that are often marginalized, low-socio economic, academically underperforming, traditionally have low persistence and graduation rates, as well as promoting exciting careers that traditionally may have a less diverse working population. These efforts are geared toward access to information, recruitment and outreach opportunities, academic success and collegiate graduation/transfer, financial aid awareness, professional development, career readiness and cultural/environmental barriers. Populations of focus; *African American, Hispanic, Asian and International students, single mothers/women, foster youth entering college, formerly incarcerated persons, first time in college/first generation, non-traditional students seeking career changes, etc., This workshop will present initiatives that Lone Star College is seeking to accomplish. Details will be presented as to the nature and responsibilities of the council -- **no commitment has to be made at this event -- this is an informational session and an opportunity to build relationships. We are eager to partner with faith-based institutions, no profit organizations, business owners, health care professionals, K-12 partners, executives, gift giving sponsors, law enforcement, military, rotary, civic and governmental organizations, cultural immersion affiliate organizations (fraternity, sorority, masonic, etc.,) Use this form to RSVP yourself and your guests.
