Description
Join your Nebraska Forest Service for a professional learning opportunity centered on connecting little learners with the natural world, in particular the wonders of wetlands! Increase the quantity and quality of the experiences the children in your life have with nature by attending this professional learning workshop. Wetlands are diverse ecosystems and make up over 3 million acres of Nebraska's landscape! Gain new strategies to enrich student learning and development with this new topic-focused workshop. During this workshop, we will explore activities from Project WET's Getting Little Feet WET and WOW! The Wonders of Wetlands guides. We will spend our time modeling and highlighting activities and extensions best for students ages 1-8. Educators who attend will receive copies of both curricula - comprising over 50 activities to use to connect youth with wetlands and to inspire the conservation of these critical landscapes. Both curriculum include correlations to respective standards. Participants will receive a copy of Getting Little Feet WET and WOW! The Wonders of Wetlands, a certificate for 2 hours of childcare in-service credit, and the background knowledge to implement these hands-on heads-on experiences in their work with youth right away! This workshop is free thanks to our generous sponsors; however, registration is required. Sign up by October 18th. Limited space available! Sign up and tell your collogues today! Questions? I have what I need at my fingertips! It’s been fun to bring more nature into my classroom and the kids are eager to learn more and nature! Phenomenal trainings! I learned different activities and ideas to implement activities in all areas of development and bring nature into my work with young children. The resources are very helpful. I recommend these workshops to other colleagues and friends! I love going to Nebraska workshops and utilizing the curriculum because it enables me to get my students outside while learning. Every time I go to one of these workshops, I learn a new activity and ideas to share with my students, even after 21 years in education. ABOUT THE CURRICULUM: Project WET stands for Water Education Today. Water is a part of everything we are, everything we eat, and everything we use. Yet most people do not even know where their water comes from, let alone their larger water footprint. Project WET provides educators, natural resource professionals, and more real-world, relevant, and hands-on lessons, that create an interdisciplinary learning environment focused on the most essential aspect of life—water.
