Description

Join the Michigan Mandolin Orchestra as it kicks off its 3rd season with a performance at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The Grand Rapids based MMO, led by Michigan’s mandoliner Brian Oberlin, will play an incredible line-up of music from the concert music repertoire. The orchestra will perform concert hall standards from Georges Bizet (March from Carmen) and Gabriel Faure (Pavane) to Benjamin Britten (Pizzicato Polka). Music written specifically for mandolin orchestra (Mandolins 1 & 2, mandola and octave mandolins, mandocellos and bass) will cascade from the stage courtesy of contemporary composers Aris Blettenberg and Amadei Amadeo. Featured guest Folias Duo (flute and guitar pairing) of Grand Rapids will play a set of their music as well as the J.S. Bach Double Concerto and Penitente Canyon with the MMO.
