The Life of Joy Foundation is hosting two different Soul Shop™ workshops: Soul Shop™ for Communities and Soul Shop™ for Leaders __ Soul Shop™ for Communities is a Community Awareness Skills Training designed to create a network of support for those who are impacted by suicide . Appropriate for teens and above, this community-oriented program explores how we think and talk about suicide, and discusses steps that can be taken to reduce risks. Includes an introduction to the CALL model for keeping a person with thoughts of suicide safe. Great for parents, police, nurses, teachers, advocates, and any other concerned citizens who might want to learn how to ask the question of suicide, learn about the prevalence of suicide in the community, and get more engaged with how to be a part of the solution. This includes the creation of worship resource, training congregation members in suicide awareness and basic conversation skills, and how to extend the invitation to those who have been suicidal in the past to share their stories. This workshop engages the question of how to cultivate soul-safe cultures within congregations. At Soul Shop™ for Leaders workshop attendees will learn: How to prevent suicide in your communityThe signs of suicide risk and warning signsHow to ask a person at risk if they might be thinking about suicideHow to be a companion to those experiencing suicide lossAbout local and national resources available for suicide preventionWhat the Bible has to say about suicideHow to integrate suicide prevention into the life and ministry of the churchSuicide is a public health crisis which requires our communities to respond. We believe all congregations are well situated to be significant sources of hope and healing for those impacted by suicide, and Soul Shop™ trains leaders how.
