A Once and Future Peace directed by Eric Metzgar and Mikaela Stine is a hybrid documentary resulting from partnership and collaboration between systems and communities in the effort for criminal justice reform.
The film tracks a young person referred to the Peacemaking Academy (formerly the Young Warriors Program) while revealing the past, present and future of Peacemaking Circles, and how this process has been revitalized in restorative justice to keep youth from prison and heal communities.
The Peacemaking Academy has been awarded $300k to continue this very important work. Come and celebrate our achievement from many efforts and collaboration. Join us as we celebrate with the film screening, this 2022 Fiscal Year federal funding supported by Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal.
The Peacemaking Academy is a diversion program that engages young people, families, and communities as part of the solution and decision-making in partnership with the criminal justice system as part of criminal justice reform in the effort of sharing power and responsibility and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our young people, families, and communities.
