Queer RVA Past and Future: A Community Town Hall

HAMHDS is proud to present the first Henrico Community Forum and Resource Fair, taking place the afternoon of September 17th, 2022 (the weekend before RVA Pride!). This event will include a resource and vendor fair as well as a community town hall to hear local queer leaders discuss LGBTQIA2+ history, changes, challenges, and hopes for a future of acceptance and affirmation here in RVA. We will hear from local community leaders such as Ms. Zakia McKensey of the Nationz Foundation, Mr. Ted Heck of the Virginia Department of Health, and Mr. Vincent Webb of Seven Hills Family Medicine. Listen to them speak about their experiences in RVA, the major changes and shifts that they have seen in society, schools, and politics, and their vision for a more inclusive future. Before and immediately after the town hall we will have two levels of resource providers and vendors that are queer-affirming and -owned such as Side By Side, He She Ze and We, the Nationz Foundation, Men In Transition, Diversity RVA, and more! We encourage you to wander, meet service providers and fellow community members, and be connected with a community full of support, solidarity, and acceptance. Please RSVP so we have an approximate head count, but tickets will not be required for entry. We look forward to seeing you there!
