The Marriage and Family Seminar provides a framework for understanding the callings of members of the family. Like Shepherding a Child’s Heart, the focus is on the importance of the heart as the wellspring and the power and enablement of the gospel.SHEPHERDING the HEARTThe teaching ministry of Dr. Tedd TrippMarriage and Family SeminarFriday Evening6:30 – 7:00 p.m. Registration7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Getting to the Heart of Family Life – I will examine the biblical teaching that the heart is the well-spring of behavior, Provervbs4:23, “Above all else guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life."8:00 – 8:15 p.m. Break8:15 – 9:15 p.m. What Is a family? – We will look at the transforming vision for family as a theological, sociological, and redemptive learning community.Saturday9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Husbands Love your Wives – I will examine not only the command to love and the ways that is modeled by Christ, but also the primary impediment for husbands, namely our compulsive self-love motivates us to avoid self-sacrifice out of self-interest. The motivation and enablement for this kind of love is Christ and the gospel.10:00 -10:10 a.m. Break10:10 -11:10 a.m. Wives Respect your Husbands – I will examine the fact there is no command to wives for agape love or their husbands, rather there is a command to respect. Again, we will look at the primary impediment for the respect and submission scripture enjoins, which for the wife is fear.11:10 – 11:20 a.m. Break11:20 – 12:30 p.m. Children Obey – We will look at the Ephesians 6: 1-3 passage and focus not only on the necessity of obeying and honoring, but also focusing on ways for parents to present this calling in a manner that is persuasive and compelling to kids.Tedd Tripp is the president of Shepherding the Heart Ministries. Tedd Tripp is Pastor Emeritus of Grace Fellowship Church in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, where he served from 1980 until 2012. Tedd was married to his wife, Margy, in 1968; they are parents of three adult children and nine grandchildren.
