You're invited to participate in Planting Day 2022! After the devastating tornadoes that ripped through Western Ky, the KYHA collected monetary donations via GoFundMe. With the addition of 500 pounds of donated grass seed, as well as trees and bushes, we would like to put those funds toward planting edible or ornamental landscaping for tornado survivors in the Dawson Springs area. The city of Dawson Springs suffered severe damage from the history-making tornado, which damaged or destroyed nearly 75% of the town. Many of the trees, flowers, grasses, etc have been ripped away or were bulldozed during the numerous demolition projects across town. Unfortunately, the city park, with its lush and shady trees is nearly bare, and so are many people's yards. We expect October to be the perfect time to plant grass seed for a successful rooting, the weather should be much cooler and hopefully our Planting Day will be followed by plenty of refreshing fall rain.
