Description

WHAT TO EXPECT: Kid Volunteers will work together to pack snack bags for refugees + asylum seekers as well as write kindness notes to include within the snack bags. We will also create "Welcome to Tucson" posters to be used to greet newly arriving refugees at the airport. WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT: This hands-on volunteer work will benefit Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. Lutheran Social Services welcomes and resettles up to 400 refugees each year, both in Tucson and Phoenix. They assist with pre-arrival housing, transportation, finding employment, enrolling kids in school, and helping refugees set up basic public services. KIND NOTES: This is an indoor and in-person volunteer project. A takeaway snack will be provided for the Kid Volunteers at the completion of the project. Stay tuned for additional details to help you prepare for the day! WHY YOU'LL BE INVITED TO MAKE A DONATION: Our goal is to change the world - one Kid Volunteer at a time! Your donation will go toward our efforts to create + develop fun, intentional + meaningful volunteering projects for Tucson families and enable us to expand our family volunteering opportunities. Please consider making a donation today. ♥ This family volunteer opportunity is made possible through the generous support of Whole Foods Market. A "Welcome to Tucson" note for a local refugee, created by a Kid Volunteer.
