WHAT TO EXPECT: Let's celebrate the first days of autumn! Kid Volunteers will make a fall-themed wreath for the residents at Park Avenue Rehab to then take with them to decorate their rooms. We will also enjoy a snack + cider with our new "grandfriends". WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT: This hands-on volunteer work will benefit Park Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home. Did you know that social isolation + loneliness in senior citizens leads to a 50% risk in developing dementia and other serious health conditions*? Providing seniors with social interactions with others (especially interactions with kids!) and a sense of purpose can reduce the negative health impacts of feeling alone. *CDC.gov, 2021 KIND NOTES: This is an indoor and in-person volunteer project. Masks are required to be worn. Any person age 8+ who is unvaccinated will need to be swabbed. Stay tuned for additional details to help you prepare for the day! WHY YOU'LL BE ASKED TO PAY A FAMILY REGISTRATION FEE: Our small family registration fee enables Crafting Kind Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization, to offset volunteer costs for this event. These fees are non-refundable. If you have to cancel your registration later, please know that your fee will go toward our efforts to create more give-back kindness projects for our kids, families and non-profit partners.
