TROY, MI — A Troy man was sentenced Wednesday to six to 20 years in prison for kidnapping his infant daughter from a Richmond Township in July 2021, according to a report from the Oakland Press, citing court records. Nicholas Frost, 47, was sentenced to 6 and a half years for first-degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment and driving away of a vehicle and child abandonment by Macomb County Circuit Judge Edward Servitto, the report said. Frost initially pleaded guilty in April, on the condition that he would enter a Mental Health Court. However, once the request was denied, he withdrew his guilty plea and asked for immediate sentencing, the report said. On July 29, 2021, Frost entered the mother's home through a crawl space, took the child and drove away in her vehicle, Michigan State Police said. The kidnapping triggered an Amber Alert. Employees at a Madison Heights business eventually found the baby in a car seat on a sidewalk shortly after the Amber Alert, officials said. The baby was then taken to a hospital for evaluation and was reunited with her mother, officials said.
