Great post! Kudos. It is probably in our genetic codes. We mistrust one another, probably an early survival strategy. We grow up on Sci-fi thrillers where others are really aliens, or malevolent Axis II sociopaths. We are entertained by "documentaries" that offer conspiracy theories. As adults, we have to overcome all this and behave out of our frontal lobes. We must stop being at war with each other. Congress is only a reflection of ourselves. We, as humans must raise our consciousness and become better people, willing to work together for the common good. Otherwise, you aptly pointed out we will only become another of historically great nations that fall into oblivion. "For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill.
