Helper for my senior Dad - Change a lightbulb

Jobs

Sudbury MA

Description

My dad has a home health aide and nurse for all personal and cleaning care. He is a wonderful, articulate, funny senior currently able to walk unassisted. He can handle most self care but he needs help with all the tasks that remain. I'm looking for someone who can change a lightbulb or a battery in a smoke detector, drive my dad to get a haircut or take the recycling to the Sudbury transfer station, etc., do a few tasks that are hard for elderly arthritic hands to do, and provide conversation and companionship. It would be ideal if you knew how to use a drill but it is not necessary. Please note this is NOT seeking a handy-man or home improvement contractor. This is NOT seeking a nurse or home health aide. For those with nefarious intent, know that my dad has zero access to money, cash or otherwise, and has no possessions of significant value. He has an ancient desk top and an older flat screen. That's it. Nothing else. We are super COVID aware, so you must be double vaccinated and boosted. Please be a native English speaker and American citizen, fit enough to get on a step ladder or carry a heavy bag of trash. It would be very helpful if you take CashApp so that I can pay you from wherever I am, my home or his, when I'm out of town, to make sure you are paid in full on time. Pay is $15 an hour though I am willing to negotiate a little depending on what you have to offer. You will need to come and interview with my father and me since I really want enjoyable companionship for him as well. He was an avid cyclist, mountain climber, physicist, dad of four now with six grandkids. He loves to talk about canoe trips, is an avid Democrat, and has worked for decades to turn old railroads into bicycle trails. He was commissioner of Parks and Recreation but has retired from that volunteer position. He'd like to attend some evening meetings in town and driving is simply not an option for him, no matter how much he says he is "just fine" driving. But mostly I'd be looking for a few hours on afternoons. He takes until about noon to wake up, wash and eat breakfast. Could you help us out?
