Press release from the Novato Unified School District: January 3, 2021 En espaƱol Dear NUSD Family, I hope each of you had a restful break from school and that you were able to safely celebrate with those closest to you. While we needed the rain, I was appreciative of the good weather and being able to get outside with my family. Topics included in today's update are: No changes to our current plans for returning students to our campuses A reminder of our middle school schedule beginning January 4 A reminder of our high school schedule beginning January 5 Development of an NUSD COVID Dashboard The importance of following State COVID guidelines regarding quarantine No changes to our current plans for returning students to our campuses Below is a breakdown of where we are with our paused reentry plan: Grades TK-6 Students in grades TK-6 will continue with on campus learning on January 4 Grades 7-10 Students in grades 7-8 will continue in remote learning on January 4 Students in grades 9-10 will continue in remote learning on January 5 (January 4 is a staff development day for teachers) Return to on-campus learning will be no sooner than January 19 Any decision to return will be based upon Marin County's Tier and the status of the Bay Area stay at home order Grades 11-12 Students in grades 11-12 will continue in remote learning on January 5 (January 4 is a staff development day for teachers) Return to on-campus learning will be no sooner than January 25 Any decision to return will be based upon Marin County's Tier and the status of the Bay Area stay at home order A reminder of our middle school schedule beginning January 4 Beginning January 4, all middle school students will be on the same schedule whether they are sixth graders during on campus learning or seventh and eighth graders in remote learning. The middle school schedule is as follows: High school schedule beginning January 5 Beginning January 5, all high school students will change to a new schedule to prepare for the return to on campus learning. The schedule is as follows (you should have received information prior to the break from your student's high school explaining how this will work and assigned group): Development of an NUSD COVID Dashboard Upon our return from Winter Break, we will finalize our COVID Dashboard. We are committed to transparency and hope this dashboard will be a part of our achieving this goal. The importance of following State COVID guidelines regarding quarantine We are all in this together. Our safety is dependent on the behaviors of those around us. I need everyone to accept responsibilities for the decisions they made over Winter Break. If you were unable to refrain from social gatherings with those outside of your household, traveled beyond our area, or had some other potential COVID exposure, please follow the guidance you can view here.
