Description

Join us on Monday, August 22nd from 3-7 PM at Sears think[box] for the Fix-It Cle Repair Workshop. NOTE: Please arrive no later than 6:30pm to allow time to repair your item. Our theme for this event is adhesives and fasteners. Coaches will present various tools and techniques that are often used in repairs and DIY making when materials need to be attached together. The theme will include fabric, wood, and plastics. Come with an item that needs repair, or come to learn and enjoy a community that supports one another on reuse and repair journeys. We hope to see you there! Questions about this event? Contact [email protected]. About Fix-it CLE Workshops Fix-it CLE Workshops are fun, community-based workshops where neighbors, friends, and families work collectively to learn how to repair broken items. These Workshops help people realize the value of their stuff, foster community engagement, reduce material sent to landfills, and serve as a great way for skills to get passed on to a new generation. Fix-it CLE Workshops focus on empowering the residents of Greater Cleveland to keep materials and products in use through learning and repair as a part of a circular economy*. The Workshops will be held bi-monthly at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District offices (2nd Saturdays) and the Sears think[box] located on Case Western Reserve University’s campus (4th Mondays). Both of these venues provide space in which to hold these workshops and foster an encouraging community. Each workshop may have a theme, but repairs falling outside of the theme are welcome. Organizers ask that all participants sign a Waiver and Photo Release Form. 2nd Saturdays Workshops at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District will be held on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 am-1 pm. Address: 4750 East 131 Street, Garfield Heights, OH 44105 4th Mondays Workshops at Sears think[box] will be held on the 4th Monday of each month from 3-7 pm. Address: Case Western Reserve University, Sear think[box], Richey Mixon Building, 11201 Cedar Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Directions and parking can be found here. Circular Cleveland is an initiative led by Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and the City of Cleveland to transition our region from its current linear and disposable society to one that is more circular.
