Improvised Movie Class for Youth

10 North Jay Street,Schenectady NY 12305

27 December, 2022

Description

We’ll use the basics of improv to create a very short movie, then go a bit more in-depth on techniques and tips for more ambitious projects. Our theatre is equipped with a three camera setup and has a green screen, but the tips we’ll be sharing will be useful even if your camera is your phone. No previous experience with improv or movie-making required, though we welcome all skill levels! The focus of this class is on improvised production: while we will touch very briefly on editing, we won’t spend a lot of time with that. We expect that some of the students will already have some experience with video editing. Students should bring a bag lunch and drink. For students aged 13-17. Tuition: $90 for the two days A limited number of partial scholarships may be available, inquire by email to [email protected]. We will follow NYS guidelines for indoor classes in small arts venues. Enhanced safety measures at The Mopco: We have installed a heat recovery ventilation system, UVC light in our air handling system, and increased HVAC filtration MERV value to 13, the highest that our equipment allows. Emergency Closing Procedures: We aren't a school, so we aren't part of the school closing network. Instead, we hitch our wagon to SUNY Schenectady: If they close, we close. Here's a link to their emergency closing page: https://sunysccc.edu/About-Us/Campus-Safety/Emergency-Closing-Procedures.html FAQ: What about the advanced classes? Great question! We have designed this season of classes to serve all levels of improv experience. At the Mopco we strongly believe that in improv, the basics ARE the “advanced” stuff. As we go through the year, we will be adding master classes that may be more specifically for experienced improvisers, but again, we believe all levels will benefit from and enjoy these classes. Are there any prerequisites to this class? Nope! This is for all levels. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Contact us at [email protected] for general inquiries or call us at (518) 577-6726. What's the refund policy? Cancellations for a full refund must be made 7 days or more prior to the first class. Less than 7 days: Your place in the class is non-refundable unless we can get someone to fill your spot. Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Please make sure we know who to expect in class. If you are registering for another, please INCLUDE THEIR EMAIL in the registration info so we can inform them of any emergency schedule changes, etc.
