Bee Fest, the Belle Isle Nature Center's annual celebration of the pollinators who call southeast Michigan home, is returning from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Hosted on National Bee Day, Bee Fest focuses on the important role bees play in the ecosystem and teaches guests how to care for these six-legged pollinators through fun activities and educational displays. During this outdoor event, guests can expect: Beekeeper talks Biodiversity presentations from Oakland University Pollinator-friendly arts and crafts Beeswax candle making Honey tastings Bee-friendly gardening tips Local vendors And much more! "Bee Fest is a celebration of the bees, everything they do for us and everything that we can do for them," said Amy Greene, nature centers director for the Detroit Zoological Society. "It's going to be a great day where everyone — no matter how much knowledge they are coming in with — can feel connected with nature and learn what they can do for the pollinators who surround us."
