Suspected DUI Driver Rams Manhattan Beach Police Vehicle

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The New Year got off to less than a stellar start for a Manhattan Beach Police Officer who sustained injuries when an alleged DUI driver "intentionally rammed the officers unit at approximately 40 mph" at 10:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Marine Avenue, according to Community Affairs Sergeant Tim Zins. The officer, who was not transported to a hospital but did sustain injuries, was responding to a hit and run in the area when a different car hit him from behind. The driver of the car was booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence and was transported to Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail, said Sgt. Zins.
