I am searching for a better fit for our dog, Steve. He is a neutered blue heeler/corgi mix Please read this ad thoroughly before replying. I will be extremely picky as to where Steve goes. He does not *need* to leave our home, however it is in my family and Steve's best interest if we find a proper fit for him. We adopted Steve last October as an 11 month old puppy. (DOB 11-11-20) Steve has had basic obedience training as a youngster, and hes not forgotten those commands. He is well versed in come, sit, roll over, stay and is overall an excellent listening, obedient dog who is fiercely loyal. Steve is not without his faults, however. Shortly after adopting Steve we found out that he likes to express his anxieties with his mouth. While this behavior has vastly improved, we continue to have instances where Steve feels uneasy and bites. This is likely due to him being a cross with a cattle dog breed, as they are mouthy dogs by nature. Steve has had some sort of checkered upbringing (I am convinced the girl we adopted him from was anything but forthcoming) as he came to us with severe kennel aggression and does not enjoy being held, picked up or bathed. We have worked with him over the course of the last ten months and he has made great strides and improvements, but recent setbacks have led us to decide that Steve would be happier in a quieter, more well suited environment. He does great with other animals-- we have chickens and rabbits that he largely ignores. I am not sure how he would get along with cats or other dogs, as we do not have either. It is absolutely imperative that Steve goes to a home WITHOUT CHILDREN. I cannot stress this enough and I will make zero exception to this. You are also going to have to sign a document stating that you are aware of Steve's history of aggression and biting. I have reached out with and been met with "good lucks" from rescues- but if you happen to be one with space PLEASE do not hesitate to reach out to me. We would prefer to place him with a rescue vs. a private home. He needs the work and training that I unfortunately lack the resources to provide to him. If you have read this far and you are still interested in or think that you can provide Steve with the perfect home, please reach out.
