Job description Art Installation Assistant - (Austin) 419 Congress near 5th St Compensation: $22- $25 per hour depending on skills/experience Employment type: Temporary Contract Job Title: Art Installation Assistant Non-Profit Organization – Mexic-Arte Museum Art Exhibit Installation Assistant - Job Description: • Assists the Head Preparator in the installation of exhibitions • Prep/paints gallery for upcoming exhibition. • Builds pedestals, floating walls, and support furniture for exhibitions. Assist in multiple aspects of exhibit installation (hanging, construction, lighting etc.) Candidate skills: • Demonstrates a good knowledge of standard museum practices/procedures with an emphasis on object handling and care. ● Knowledge and experience in exhibit design, art installation, lighting, carpentry/wood-working, and audio-visual technology. ● Possesses the ability to work well with a multitude of people (artists, curator, etc.). ● Maintains professional working relationships with all staff. ● Must be a team player. ● Follows instructions Physical Job Requirements Must be able to: ● To sit, stand, walk and climb stairs throughout the facility for extended periods of time on any workday ● To lift and carry at least 50 pounds and more ● To climb large ladders ● To paint walls and sculpture stands ● To bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials ● To move crates off trucks for unpacking, packing, and storing • Candidate must undergo a background check.
