Have you ever looked at a work of art with some confusion only to have everything clarified upon reading the title and a paragraph that provides context to the work? Dance can be even more mysterious and sometimes intimidating. On, Excerpts and Investigation invites the audience to watch three, short segments of an evening length dance called The Shire, performed by Nsquared Dance. A post performance moderated discussion will allow for inquiry into the presentation that will provide the audience with the opportunity to hear from both the choreographer and the dancers. This discussion will frame an even broader look at the critical role that dance can play in enhancing our understanding of each other and honing our skills for empathy and non-verbal communication. Nsquared is fast becoming New Hampshire’s most vital contemporary dance company. Artistic Director Zackary Betty choreographed The Shire to celebrate New Hampshire’s seven distinct regions with dance that is at times joyous, powerful and thought provoking. 5:30 — 6:00 — Wine, Appetizers and mingling 6:00 — 6:20— Excerpts of The Shire 6:30 — 7:00 — post performance discussion led by Matt Cahoon, Artistic Director of theater KAPOW and former Director of The Stockbridge Theater.
