Description
Charleston’s own, “ME & MR. JONES “was founded and created by lead vocalist Alyce Marie. She credits Amy Winehouse as one of her strongest influences, which inspired the band name, after one of Winehouse’s greatest hits “Me & Mr. Jones”. "I was deeply touched and affected down to my core when I heard news of Amy's passing -I had never reacted that way to any artist's passing but i believe it was because she was close in age to me at the time. It was a harsh and very true personal reminder to me that tomorrow is not promised and that the gifts and talents I could be sharing with millions of people worldwide, can go at any time as well." - Alyce Marie She immediately felt a shift of inspiration and clarity in the deepest part of herself. In 2014, Alyce made her move to Charleston, SC - eventually pairing up with ultra-skilled, top-tier guitarist and songwriter Chris Dodson in 2015. The two have created a unique, orgasmic and electrifying sound that has led them to a significant amount of well-deserved success, supportive fans and surprising opportunities. Now playing hundreds of shows a year, the band has focused its energies and artistry on paying tribute to their most inspiring artists and eras. Now, “ME & MR. JONES” will be uniquely covering two of London’s most valuable, intimate and astonishing female artists: Amy Winehouse & Adele. Known for their unveiling ability to create insanely vulnerable and soul-resonating music out of their darkest hours, both have been undoubtably influential in low tides of my music career and more notably in 2019, through my darkest days while losing my boyfriend Jeff to cancer. When life seems unlivable and overrated. For nearly two decades, the work of Amy Winehouse and Adele continues to emotionally impact and comfort billions of loyal fans worldwide. Some say musicians thrive in their misery: Adele's imperfect love scenarios, texturized girthy sound and resilient comebacks continue tp melt faces. Although Amy's war with addictions and heartache prematurely ended her life, she has left behind an undeniable legacy that will continue to be honored, borrowed and musically resurrected indefinitely. ME & MR.JONES 9-piece band (Yes, there will be a nasty horns section!) takes the stage at Isle of Palm’s newest and most consideraly-hyped outdoor, indoor and double-rooftop venue, “Islander 71” on Thursday October 6th, 2022. Flashy, funkdafied, seductively soulful and energetic, "Lovesick in London" will melt you into a retro-hypnotic groove. Doors open at 5PM for the event. Show starts promptly at 6:30PM. Please be advised this event will strictly be for those 21 & up. Food and Alcohol are available for purchase.
