Join us on Thursday September 22, 2022 at 7:00pm when SVHS welcomes Coach Jerry Veshio when he presents "Moving Forward – Success in an Unexpected and Improbable Journey."
Jerry Veshio is a longtime educator and coach from the Quaker Valley School District, where he graduated high school and was later employed for his entire professional career. He worked as an assistant football coach at the varsity level until 1983 before taking on the head coaching role until 1986. Two days prior to the 2017 season, after a 31-year hiatus from coaching the sport, Veshio agreed to take on the role of interim head football coach. Under his guidance, and for the first time in the 62-year history of Quaker Valley High School, the Quakers went on to win their first ever WPIAL Championship with a historic 2-0 win over perennial power Aliquippa. Three weeks later, he led the Quakers to their first ever PIAA state championship. Success came through a message of unity, of striving to get better at one thing every day, of always moving forward, and most of all, a belief in positive outcomes.
Join us on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 7pm when Coach Veshio shares, in person, his description and account of Quaker Valley’s run to a state football championship. His book will be available for purchase and for signing.
Participants can join person at the Old Sewickley Post Office or on Zoom, for this exciting presentation.
