Press release from the City of Grand Rapids: August 08, 2022 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A heavily-traveled section of Monroe Avenue NW is set to close for 12 days beginning Wednesday, Aug. 10. Crosswalk improvements and watermain work in front of the Government Center and the DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall will prompt the full closure of Monroe Avenue between Lyon Street NW and Michigan Street NW. Posted detours include: Northbound–Lyon to Ionia to Michigan; Southbound­—Michigan to Ottawa to Lyon. Parking access from Monroe to the south entrance of the Government Center Ramp and 200/220 Monroe Ave. NW parking ramps will be maintained from Lyon Street. Access to the Government Center Ramp also will be maintained during the closure from Ottawa Avenue NW. Work is expected to wrap by the end of the day, Sunday, Aug. 21.
