Looking for music people to live/play with

Anyone out there live with other musicians you love to play with regularly? I'm a closet songwriter/musician looking to really get into it with others who are excited to play together and want to create something unique. And since I'm looking for housing in LA (I've been living near Joshua Tree but am planning on moving soon), I figured maybe there might be a great music house out there with an opening. My musical ideas/interests are very style-fluid, but often in the realm of indie, rock, singer-songwriter, jazz, experimental, pop. It would be great to have some people to play and build ideas with on a regular basis, and possibly even perform with. I play guitar, saxophone, write songs (including lyrics), sing a bit, and sometimes try to play other various bells and whistles. I haven't played enough with others in the last 10 years, but it's time to get out there. I have fairly extensive theory knowledge, and I have fun messing with new ideas and approaches all the time. Music is also somewhat of a "spiritual" pursuit for me - a means of tapping into the depths. If you have any leads, or if you'd like to join me in my search, let me know! Thanks.
