Position: Hollow Metal Fabricator
Job Duties:
Fabricate hollow metal components from sheet steel using multiple machining methods.
Interpret technical drawings for required frame preparations.
Operate and set up shears, punch presses, brake presses, spot welders, and various other machine tools to punch and form sheet metal.
Analyze and resolve work problems.
Perform quality checks using basic measuring devices and calipers.
The potential candidate shall possess the following skills and/or abilities:
Dexterity: Hollow metal fabricators work with their hands, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on a fabricating machine. Must be able to use both hands.
Math: Strong math skills are needed due to the technological needs of the fabrication department.
Mechanical/Technical Skills: Hollow metal fabricators need to be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, and fabricating machines to do their job.
Strength: Hollow metal fabricators require strength to lift heavy objects during the fabrication process. A minimum ability to lift 40 pounds is required
Stamina: Hollow metal fabricators are on their feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
Flexibility: Hollow metal fabricators may be required to perform duties outside of the fabrication department. (A willingness to cross-train in other areas is highly recommended).
