Description

Position: Hollow Metal Fabricator Job Duties:  Fabricate hollow metal components from sheet steel using multiple machining methods.  Interpret technical drawings for required frame preparations.  Operate and set up shears, punch presses, brake presses, spot welders, and various other machine tools to punch and form sheet metal.  Analyze and resolve work problems.  Perform quality checks using basic measuring devices and calipers. The potential candidate shall possess the following skills and/or abilities:  Dexterity: Hollow metal fabricators work with their hands, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on a fabricating machine. Must be able to use both hands.  Math: Strong math skills are needed due to the technological needs of the fabrication department.  Mechanical/Technical Skills: Hollow metal fabricators need to be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, and fabricating machines to do their job.  Strength: Hollow metal fabricators require strength to lift heavy objects during the fabrication process. A minimum ability to lift 40 pounds is required  Stamina: Hollow metal fabricators are on their feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.  Flexibility: Hollow metal fabricators may be required to perform duties outside of the fabrication department. (A willingness to cross-train in other areas is highly recommended).
