Description
SSP is looking to hire an experienced concrete finisher who can expertly place, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, and floors. You will also be required to set forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Consults with construction manager or client to determine the shape, consistency, finish, and other specifications of the project and plans accordingly. • Plans project and drying time to ensure that concrete will dry and cure correctly; monitors weather and wind throughout the process to ensure proper curing. • Builds and uses forms to shape concrete to specified levels and consistencies. • Uses a variety of tools, such as straight-edges, floats, rakes, shovels, trowels, and brooms, to spread, level, smooth, and finish concrete and surface. • Casts expansion joints and edges as needed. • Mounts fixtures, such as anchor bolts, steel plates, or door sills, in freshly poured concrete. • Waterproofs or restores surface by applying hardening and sealing compounds. • Levels and evens surface as needed by chipping, scraping, and grinding uneven spots or ridges using power or hand tools. • Repairs and reinforces existing concrete surfaces, which may include removing ridges and cavities, resurfacing, or cleaning. • Cleans surface, tools, and surrounding area thoroughly. • General labor and other construction activities as assigned. SAFETY • Promote, execute, and adhere to SSP safety program • Wear required PPE • OSHA 10-hour safety training (preferred) but can be obtained upon hire • Attend regular safety trainings. ABILITIES/PREFERRED SKILLS • Excellent verbal communication skills. • Punctual Attendance and Dependability • Thorough understanding of the characteristics of concrete and ability to make plans based on that knowledge. • Ability to create, lay, and use concrete forms. • Understanding of and ability to use tools related to cement. • Ability to work well with others. • Ability to create a variety of surfaces for various purposes. QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to stand for long periods. • Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours. • Ability to kneel for long periods. • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools. • Valid Driver’s License • Must be able to pass a background check and additional vetting for Fort Hood BENEFITS • Medical/Dental/Vision/Life/Accident Insurance (benefits eligible after 60 days) • Company Observed Paid Holidays after 90 days • PTO; 40 hrs. after a year • IRA; eligible after a year; 3% match **Please stop by our office to apply in person or text 210-868-0166 for more information** 2749 Chaparral Rd Killeen, Texas 76542
