Description

We’re incredibly excited to welcome Karen Kitchen of the Osage Nation to the REC Room!  This is a very special story time celebrating Indigenous American authors, illustrators and publishers while engaging children and families through story and song! Karen hosts the Multnomah County Library’s Native Story Hour, where she performs songs to inspire and educate diverse audiences about the beauty of indigenous American music, indigenous history and contemporary issues. She’s an experienced youth educator in Title VI Indian Education Programs and a proponent of Montessori education and STEAM engagement. She’s also in a band! The Prairie Blossoms recently released their first album, “Till The Star Rises Here,” and the duo was thrilled to perform at the grand opening of the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City in 2021! Recommended donation $5+ per child. No family will be turned away for lack of donation. *** We require face masks for all visitors (ages 5+) at all times when inside our shop or event spaces. If you need one, please ask our staff! ***
