Description

Are you interested in helping our unhoused neighbors? The Pledge, started in 2016 by Be:Seattle, is a collection of local businesses offering whatever they can to help ameliorate the daily lives of our neighbors living without permanent shelter. Businesses offer anything from a cup of water, to use of a bathroom, to free clothing or a place to charge a phone. Participation is completely voluntary and businesses choose their level of participation. Nothing is too small or too great. Individuals learn of the program through maps distributed through mutual aid and outreach workers. Businesses also advertise the services to passersby or map holders via stickers on their doors or windows. The program was paused in 2020 due to the pandemic, and we could use your help to bring it back and expand it to more businesses! At this neighborhood small business outreach event, we will take two hours to canvas the local shops in Beacon Hill near El Centro De La Raza before meeting back outside The Station coffee shop to share in our successes! No previous experience is required–we’ll provide all materials and do a brief training before we head out. Join us and help The Pledge grow back into the useful and comfort giving program it was in the past. To protect the health and safety of our community, we require volunteers to be fully vaccinated and wear a mask when inside the businesses. We will bring extra KN-95 masks.
