Description

A combined passion for fashion, history, and preservation inspire the first fashion show at Bishops Lodge, in partnership with SWAIA and Amber-Dawn Bear Robe. THE INSPIRATION Indigenous fashion has recently caught the eye of Native art enthusiasts, curators, and a niche general public. Despite this increased interest in the original design language of America, Native designers are neither new nor an anomaly. Along with designs by Wendy Ponca, who will be in attendance, the first Bishop's Lodge fashion show will feature a private collection of Lloyd Kiva New designs - original Southwest designs from a gentleman considered to be the father of Modern Indigenous Fashion. The collection showcased is on loan from Robert Black. Black is a style icon and his collection spans from the 1930s through the 1990s, ranging from pieces by Lloyd Kiva to beaded, sequined creations from avant-garde designers.
