Description

EVENT DESCRIPTION Join babygami for our next community family meet up at North Park Nature Center on August 27th at 10 a.m. Please note that this event is hosted by the Chicago Park District that will teach us about conservation efforts and cultural connections to the monarch butterfly. Family-friendly activities, science, environmental justice and more! Please reserve a ticket for each person, so we can estimate the size of our group appropriately. Lastly, for safety, you must be the original person and have a matching ID that matches your eventbrite ticket. Kids do not need IDs. WHERE WILL WE ADVENTURE? Located on the northwest side of Chicago, North Park Village Nature Center features a 46-acre nature preserve and educational facility, situated within the 155-acre North Park Village campus. The nature preserve offers trails that wind through woodland, wetland, prairie, and savanna. A discovery room, a hands-on table of natural objects, and interactive displays are highlights of the Nature Center. In addition to the Nature Center and preserve, visitors can also enjoy exploration through Walking Stick Woods, a 12-acre woodland with trails and nodes designed for Nature Play. We will email the exact location of our meet up point once individuals sign up for safety purposes. WHY JOIN US? Going back to school doesn't mean we can't continue to enjoy time outside! At babygami, our mission is to support diverse families to enjoy life outside! Did you know that only 15% of people of color enjoy the outdoors? Let's change that together, and, all are welcome! WHAT TO WEAR? Wear comfortable, ideally athletic clothes, shoes, preferably long pantsIf you can, wear a hat, sunscreen, and bring sunglasses If you have them, we also recommend wearing hiking socks and boots, but this is not requiredWHAT TO BRING? Your ID Your family and kid(s)Light snacks, water bottle, and a bag or backpack to carry in itPlease resist the urge to pack too much because we'd love to leave nature as is and leave no traceWHO TO CONTACT? Sana Jafri and Qudsia Khan are the founders and organizers for the babygami family meet up. You can follow us at @babygami_co on social media, and sign up for our newsletter at babygamico.com.
