From February through July of 2022, Creative Pinellas pulled the community together to discuss a number of key topics important to the arts and the community in Pinellas County. WE Convene Sessions WE Convene 1: Public Art and Placemaking – How both can be integrated more throughout the landscape of Pinellas CountyWE Convene 2: Performing Arts – How to support and grow the performing artsWE Convene 3: Accessibility and Equity – Making arts accessible and welcoming to allWE Convene 4: Arts and Tourism – Leveraging our Brand and Arts & Cultural MarketingWE Convene 5: Economic Wellbeing for Artists – How to ensure artists and arts organizations thrive in Pinellas CountyWE Convene 6: Arts & Education and Community Outreach – With a focus on outreach today to expand and create audiences for tomorrowWe invited speakers both within and from outside Pinellas County to share some of the pioneering approaches they were taking in their own practice and their own communities to sustain, nurture and grow the arts, and to innovatively solve key challenges. We convened in small groups at each meeting to talk, listen and come-up with and share breakthrough ideas that could make a difference in building success together. Now at the Town Hall, we are coming together as a community to look at the results of what we discovered, to discuss the ideas and to begin the process of creating a road map to move forward. In addition, we will be taking a look at the opportunity for cultural planning, and some potential opportunities in the making. Run of Event: 12:30-1pm: Registration and Networking1-2pm: Keynote Address Setting the Stage: Cultural Planning. What is it? Why do we need it? How can we get it done? Linda Flynn from the Cultural Planning Group will discuss how cultural planning can transform a community.2-3:15pm: Presentations and Small Group Discussions What do we know about the current landscape and our opportunities? Arts community members will be sharing some of the amazing findings and ideas from the WE CONVENE discussions3:15-4 pm: What’s Next? We’ve set the stage. We understand the landscape. We have some really good ideas. What can we do as a community, today, to start putting things into action?This event is FREE and open to the public
