Do you find things confusing at trail intersections? Do you wonder what to do if you encounter bears or an aggressive dog on your hike? Do you enjoy hiking alone at times, and know that you should be setting out better prepared, but not sure how? This course covers these topics and more, because, stuff happens.
It’s everyone’s worst nightmare to have something go wrong on a hike. However, most issues can be prevented by heading out with a little knowledge and a good plan. In this class, we’ll be covering a variety of topics, but they all boil down to improving our safety. We’ll go over what to do for specific animal encounters, and not just for bears. There are snakes, ticks, coyotes, or even someone's pet dog could be aggressive toward you or your dog. We’ll walk you through the procedures for those situations and more. We'll also teach you how to identify hazardous plants and how to spot the signs that some inclement weather is on the way. You will be more confident deciding when you can keep going and when you should call off the hike and turn around. All in all, this class goes over the important things to consider before you leave for your hike, but also tackles how to handle anything should it pop up.
Minimum Age: 8 years old - the minor(s) and a parent/guardian must all be paid registered participants.
