Are you thorough and take deep pride in your work? Are you prompt and good at communicating jobs completed? Do you have experience in building maintenance, snow removal, lawn maintenance, fix-it projects, and carpentry? Do you have close access to downtown Madison? We are looking for a full time, 40 hours a week Building and Grounds Maintenance Employee to lead building and ground maintenance and provide backup carpentry for multiple furnished extended stay and vacation rentals locations near downtown Madison starting early September. In this role, you will: Perform and log regular preventative building maintenance inspections and tasks Do lawn maintenance and mowing Promptly complete and log repairs requested by tenants Do snow and ice removal Complete renovation and carpentry tasks with lead carpenter Communicate effectively and consistently with owners, lead carpenter, and tenants About Us We own The Wilson, which will include approximately 45 furnished apartments available for stays of one month or more at a few different locations near downtown Madison. Currently we are converting approximately 20/45 of those apartments from long-term stay apartments to furnished, renovated units. The Wilson is spread across three main downtown buildings in downtown Madison and a few duplexes in an east side neighborhood. All of our furnished apartments are lovingly designed to highlight the building’s historic architecture and natural light. From throw pillows to new appliances to the perfect teapot, each apartment is fully stocked so tenants can enjoy a night in as much as a night out. Our tenants are interesting people–from professional ballerinas, to campaign managers, to travelling medical personnel, to remote workers who want to experience the best of Madison. They have high expectations for where they live. We also own an AirBnB on Lake Monona in Downtown Madison. This location has lake access, a sauna and is also steps away from the best restaurants. We host multi-generational families, bands on tour, celebrities with local connections, and friends reuniting. We are a couple in our mid thirties with a five year old son. We live in the lower level of our airbnb. Kristopher was trained as a carpenter and electrical contractor, and uses those skills in renovations, interior design, and building maintenance. Julia has worked for over a decade for the Madison Metropolitan School District and is currently transitioning to work on our businesses full time. We have found that we love helping visitors experience the best of Madison through beautiful design and top notch customer service. Outside of work, you can find us enjoying the lake, practicing yoga, traveling, and biking. Why work for us? -Competitive Wages: We offer $25-$35/hour, depending on experience and how you’d like to structure benefits -Stable Work: This is a 40 hour per week full time position. You will mostly work 9-5 weekdays, with the exception of flexing for urgent tenant repair requests as needed potentially. -Family Business: We are a small family run company and we are looking for someone who gets excited about being involved in the moving parts of a small yet growing business. -Interesting Work: No one day will look the same for you as some days you’ll be working on yard maintenance and snow removal. What we are looking for someone who: -looking to work full time starting early September -thorough, detail-oriented, and efficient -responds promptly to tenant requests -experience with successfully and routinely logging completion of routine maintenance and completion of repairs -good at taking feedback -friendly around tenants/guests -reliable, a good communicator, and is good at following a calendar -flexible- In hospitality, calendars/situations can change. In a small, growing business, systems can change. -general construction, carpentry, or prior facilities maintenance -experience with plumbing, electricity or HVAC maintenance (a plus) -experience with snow removal, landscaping, and grounds maintenance -mechanical skills -Can speak English -Valid driver’s license -Ability to regularly lift items that are 50-100 pounds - Easy accessibility to downtown Madison and the near east side
