Diamond Springs CA

Description

Looking for a position that is both fun and challenging, with lots of variety in your daily responsibilities? Interested in a job that offers a great work/life balance, with a schedule of 9am - 4pm Monday - Thursday in our design studio, providing you with 3-day weekends every week? Then look no further! We are a nationally recognized design studio with blue-chip clients located across the globe. We specialize in creating high-end custom awards. Our design studio is a dynamic, creative, and flexible work environment located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills in Placerville, CA. We are looking for a talented, flexible jack-of-all-trades for a position that will be involved in most aspects of our design business, including operations, design, and client service. Responsibilities • Assembly: Award assembly will include drilling marble or wood for mounting our awards, assembling the various components of multi-piece awards, and attaching engraved labels to the awards. • Engraving/Design: You will also assist our designer and lead engraver in engraving awards for our clients. A key component of this will be preparing Adobe Illustrator files with engraving layouts, and then executing the engraving using laser engraving machines. We will train you on the specifics of operating the engraving machine and preparing files in the required format, so prior experience as an engraver is not necessary – just a willingness and aptitude to learn. • Client Service: You will work with our clients on the process of them reviewing and approving their engraving layouts. Over time, as you learn about our products and services, you may have the opportunity to work with potential clients on new sales opportunities. • Shipping: Once our awards are assembled and engraved, you will be responsible for packaging and preparing them for shipment. You will also help organize and maintain shipping material inventory, receive and unpack incoming shipments. • Technical Support: You will help with troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of the computing and networking equipment and software used in our studio. General Qualifications • Extremely quality conscious; excellent attention to detail. • Excellent organization and time management skills. • Able to multi-task and balance competing priorities. • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. • Great eye for design, and, ideally, have a solid understanding of the fundamental rules of typography and typographic layouts. • Personable and friendly; positive, “can do” attitude. • Must be able to function well in a team environment. • Willing to learn and operate drill press and other basic hand tools. • Ability to lift, lower, and slide objects up to 35 pounds. • Proof of COVID vaccination and United States employment eligibility required. Technical Qualifications • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud; high proficiency with Adobe Illustrator. • Proficient with both Mac and Windows computing environments. • Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office Suite (especially Excel). • Experience with Slack and CRM software desirable but not necessary. Compensation and benefits The position offers a base pay of $20/hour. After a three-month probationary period, employees will be eligible for paid vacation (PTO) and participation in the company’s profit-sharing program. Work schedule Approximately 30 hours per week to start; may expand as candidate gains experience. The job will require on-site work from 9am – 4pm Monday through Thursday. Some additional work may be required depending on work volume, but this will be the exception and not the rule.
