This position is an apprenticeship. This is a part-time position; work is almost exclusively on weekends. If you are generally, already busy on weekends this is probably not for you. This is not a position for an experienced craftsman. You are not expected to have any experience or tools of your own. If you are in Durham or live close to Durham, you would not have to have your own transportation. If you are a miner, I must meet with your parent(s) or guardian(s) before you can start. They will have a sign a Permission Notice. About me. I am a small business owner that owns, rents and maintains rental property. I am also in the process of building a home for myself. In addition to this, my hobbies are woodwork, metal fabrication and my home. My background is for the most part, my entire life working in skilled trades. Starting at growing up on a farm, building homes, buildings, metal fabrication and college. Along with teaching Welding at the college level. My hobbies and projects keep me busy and there is often need for a helper. So, if you are wanting to learn. And if you are willing to work, this could be for you. Some of the skills that you will learn while working with me are... How to identify tools, both hand and power. Also, lawncare, residential building and remodeling, drywall hanging and finishing, painting, tile, lite plumbing and electrical, welding and more. My most successful apprentice worked for me from age 15 to age 20. He is now in his mid-twenties and is a homeowner. The skills he acquired while working with me has helped him manage and maintain his home while saving money as a do-it-yourselfer. My most recent apprentice went from having no experience as a builder/remodeler to owning his own company, in just two years.
