Description

Are you a musician who “used to” be in bands? Do you long for those days? That’s me and I'm looking for like-minded people to play music to rejuvenate my soul and reactivate my brain cells. In a nod to one of my original song titles: Music is the Answer! I had been a drummer and singer. Maybe you had a band, or were in some. Maybe you had visions at the very least of playing covers in small bars. Or dreaming about an original band, and songwriting was your primary joy, as well as, as singing. That’s me. I did it long ago and from time to time I get the bug. I even reconnected with two former collaborators over the past several years (both of which were short-lived but that’s another tale for another song…). I'm hoping to find kindred spirits who would love to get together and play some songs, as well as just reminisce about past experiences. I took up drums and found I was a natural. I discovered my voice earlier on singing with records, and the microphone was the game changer. Then I made discovered to my amazement that I could sing and play drums at the same time. I placed an ad in the Village Voice – remember that iconic publication? – and met many musicians to jam with and write songs. I had been writing lyrics for a long while before this. I formed a band with one of those responders, and we collaborated on songs. Later in free-form jamming I found I could make up songs on the spot, words and music, while playing drums. I’m looking for people over 50 whose core musical lexicon emanates from the classic 60s and 70s, and the and pop/alternative 80s and 90s alternative. If we find musical and hopefully personal chemistry, besides playing covers I would love to work out original songs. The ultimate would be bring play with full instrumentation and amplification at a studio. Let’s get those comatose brain cells rocking again. Dave
