Description

Did you recently move to the United States? Is your child enrolled in elementary, middle or high school? Is your family thinking about college education in the U.S.? In these “back-to-school” workshops, we will address many common questions, including: How do parents typically communicate with teachers? How can I stay informed about my child’s progress? What is a “Parent Teacher Association” (PTA)? How can parents become involved in American schools? Should my child be enrolled in IB or AP classes? What extracurricular activities are best, for an international student in an American school? What are “standardized tests”? What factors are important, if my child wants to attend college or university in the U.S.? We have offered these workshops every fall for 10 years. We love to help international residents of the U.S. start the school year smoothly. We encourage you to attend a workshop and ask questions about K-12 schools in the U.S. After a program, separate breakout groups will discuss elementary, middle, and high schools. All discussion leaders are American ESOL teachers who are also parents of children in the schools. Meet other international parents as well. All questions are welcome! Please RSVP.
