Black Space is a FREE community event for Black people to get in touch with a therapist in a group setting of 12.
Black Space is a community and cultural healing circles of emotional emancipation and connection. Black Space is an in-person space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black Womxn, Black LGBTQIA+, and Black Mxn. Starting September 19th, we will be conducting an all Black Womxn space for 12 womxn, then October 3rd, an all Black Space for 12 LGBTQIA+, and to be annouced at a later date for Black Mxn.
This current registation will only be for Black Womxn, and Black LGBTQIA+ registation will be LIVE September 20th.
This group session will be lead by Dr. Lia Knox. Dr. Knox received her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling Education from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Knox is often presented as an expert psychologist on various local and national television and radio programs. She is currently the “Resident Psychologist” and “Web Doctor” for the magazine entitled “GIRLFRIENDS Health Guide for Women of Color” and has also been featured as a contributing author in “UMOJA” magazine and referenced in JET Magazine (2012). Dr. Knox is the author of “The Use of Media by African American Women to Acquire Mental Health Knowledge” (2006). Dr. Knox is a motivating, humorous, and energetic public speaker. She provides trainings as well as educational workshops for community and corporate programs throughout the United States and abroad.
